I know each year for Christmas our family, like most families make Christmas cookies from scratch and decorate them. Which takes a lot of time to complete the whole process. The past few years my kids have been too little to really enjoy the whole process.
That was until someone gifted us undecorated Christmas cookies with all the frosting, sprinkles, and decorations to make them ourselves. I had no idea this was a thing and my kids finally loved making Christmas cookies. And it was one of our favorite Christmas gifts that we received this past year.
I think next year we will plan to pass this idea along to another family or two. Just by making a few extra cookies and extra frosting you could easily make someone else’s day. Here’s what was in with the Christmas cookies:
- 4 different colors of frosting in Ziplock bags
- 12 Christmas cookies with different shapes
- 6 different kinds of sprinkles
- Mini M&M’s
This idea sounds so simple and yet it was such a sweet gift to receive. What’s great about this idea is that you could do it for numerous holidays i.e. Valentine’s day, St Patrick’s Day, Easter, etc. This would also make for a fun idea for a birthday gift as well. And keep in mind it doesn’t have to be cookies, you could do brownies, Rice Krispie treats, cupcakes, you name it!
Not Great at Baking?
If this idea is something you want to try but baking isn’t your thing, you could always get premade cookies at the store. Or you could opt for the refrigerated cookies or box cookies or cake. At the end of the day, it’s the thought that counts! If you know someone who would like to make cookies with their family but doesn’t have the time or isn’t a baker like you, I’m sure they’d appreciate the gesture!
Another idea could be just providing the supplies for the other person and setting them up for success. It’s such a small gesture, but it really does go a long way!
