How to Make Hair Bows Out of Ribbon: Easy and Fun!
First, you will need to gather your supplies. For this project, you will need:
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
- Lighter
You can find all of these items at your local craft store.
Once you have all of your supplies, it’s time to get started! Cut the ribbon into 2 strips that are about 12 inches long. Then, take one strip of ribbon and fold it in half. Next, take the two ends of the ribbon and tie them together to form a loop. Repeat this step with the remaining pieces of ribbon. Next, I used the lighter to burn the ends of the ribbon since they frayed.
Now that you have all of your loops made, it’s time to start forming the bow shape. I glued the tails from the knots on the loops first. Then to do this, simply take two loops add them together in the middle. Then, use the hot glue gun to attach them together.
Once you have formed the bow shape, it’s time to add the finishing touch – the ribbon tail. To do this, take a piece of ribbon that is about 18 inches long and tie it around the middle of the bow. Trim any excess ribbon so that it is even.
After your ribbon hair bow is made figure out how you’d like to attach it to your hair. We used hair clips and hot glued the bow to the clip.
And that’s it! You now have your very own hair bow made out of ribbon. This project is really easy and fun, and best of all, it costs next to nothing! So go ahead and give it a try!
How to Make Boutique Hair Bows: Step-By-Step Instructions
We will walk you through step-by-step instructions on how to make your own boutique hair bows. So, get ready to have some fun!
What you will need:
- Small ribbon (we used .5-inch width ribbon)
- Large ribbon (we used 1.5-inch width ribbon)
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Lighter
Step One: Cut 2 piece of the larger ribbon into 10 inches in length, so you have two 10-inch ribbons. Then use the lighter to seal the frayed edges by lightly running the lighter across the ribbon edge.
Step Two: Next, fold each ribbon in half to find the middle. Add a line of glue on each side of the fold and attach the ends of the ribbon to the glue, without them overlapping. Do this to each ribbon.
Step Three: Fold the front of the bow in half and make a crease. Now, add a small amount of hot glue in the center of the crease on the front of the bow. Then squeeze the crease together again where you placed the glue.
Step Four: Turn the ribbon over and form a crease on the back. Then add a dot of hot glue on the bottom and the top of the inside of the crease and hold the crease together.
Step Five: Now place both the ribbons together by adding a dot of glue on the middle of one of the ribbons.
Step Six: Get out your hair clip and cut ribbon long enough to cover the clip and hot glue it on, with the pattern or front side of the ribbon facing away from the clip. (With our hair bow we skipped this step because the clip wasn’t really showing)
Step Seven: Cut the smaller ribbon into 1.5-inch length. Then attach a small dot of hot glue in the middle on the top of the back of the ribbon. And wrap the ribbon around the front and glue the end of the ribbon to the back.
Step Eight: Attach the hair clip to the bow by adding hot glue to the clip and pushing the hair bow into place.
And there you have it! You’ve successfully made your very own boutique hair bow. We hope that you had as much fun making it as we did. If you’re feeling extra creative, try experimenting with different fabric patterns and ribbons. The possibilities are endless! How to Make a French Barrette Hair Bow
Looking for a new and unique hair bow to add to your collection? Why not try making a French barrette hair bow? This style of hair bow is becoming increasingly popular, and it’s easy to see why! In this step-by-step guide, we will show you how to make this beautiful accessory yourself. With just a few simple materials and tools, you can create a French barrette hair bow that is sure to impress. Let’s get started!
The first step is to gather your materials. For this project, you will need:
- One yard of grosgrain ribbon
- Scissors
- Tape measure or ruler
- Lighter
- French barrette hair clip
Now that you have everything you need, it’s time to get started! The first step is to cut your ribbon into four equal pieces. Next, take two of the pieces and tie them together in the middle with a double knot. Repeat this step with the remaining two pieces of ribbon. Now you should have two separate loops of ribbon.
Next, it’s time to start shaping your bow. Take one of the loops and shape it into a small, bringing the ends together. Hold the loop in place with one hand, and use your other hand to wrap the tape measure or ruler around the middle of the bow. Make sure to make a note of the measurement – you will need it later.
Now it’s time to do the same thing with the other loop. This time, however, shape it into a larger bow and be sure to leave more space between the ends. Once again, hold the loop in place with one hand and use your other hand to wrap the tape measure or ruler around the middle of the bow. Make sure to remember this measurement as well.
Now that you have both measurements, it’s time to start assembling your bow! Take one of the loops (either large or small, it doesn’t matter) and holding it in the middle, bring the two ends together. Secure the loop in place with a piece of tape.
Now take the other loop and do the same thing, but this time leave a small space between the two ends – this is where your French barrette hair clip will go. Again, secure the loop in place with a piece of tape.
Now that both loops are secured, it’s time to start shaping your bow. To do this, simply pinch both loops in the middle and pull them towards each other until you have achieved the desired shape. Once you’re happy with how your bow looks, use a piece of ribbon or thread to tie the two loops together in the middle.
Finally, use a lighter to lightly singe the ends of your ribbon. This will help prevent them from fraying. And that’s it – you’re done! Your French barrette hair bow is now ready to wear.

Step Two: Place the scrunchie in the center of the ribbon and fold the ribbon in half, encasing the scrunchie in the middle.
