Like most girls right now, my daughter is obsessed with rainbows and all things unicorns. So, for fun we decided to make rainbow Rice Krispie treats. This is more time consuming than your traditional Rice Krispie treats, but it was sure a crowd pleaser! Check out how we did it below.
Supplies you’ll need:

- Cooking Spray
- 8 or 9 inch square pan
- 6 bowls
- Pot large enough to melt both bags of marshmallows
- Stirring spoon
Step One: Gather all of your supplies.

Step Three: Add the (2) 16oz bags of Marshmallows and the remaining 8 TBS of Butter to you pot and begin to melt. Stirring occasionally.

Step Twenty-four: Now that the rainbow Rice Krispies are formed, cut into your desired serving sizes and enjoy!
One thing to keep in mind that the marshmallows will cool down quickly, and they need to be hot to combine with the Rice Krispies. So, you may need to reheat the marshmallows as you go if they start to harden. That’s why I recommended sectioning off the marshmallows in the pot you heated them in, so you didn’t have to keep transporting them back and forth.
Once the marshmallows are heated again, you’ll need to resection the marshmallows for each color. Do this each time you heat the marshmallows, so you have an even amount for each color.
I had both of my kids helping with making the rainbow Rice Krispies and we weren’t working too fast and had to reheat the marshmallows for each color.
This version of Rice Krispie treats does take some time to create. When working with my kids I also found it would’ve been helpful if I prepped before they started helping. Then they would’ve been more engaged because as you can clearly see; there’s a lot of steps and it’s hard for little to maintain their attention. Hope you and your family enjoy this rainbow Rice Krispie treat recipe!
